Registered charity number 296645

Dementia is caused by physical diseases of the brain, the most common of which is Alzheimer’s Disease. Dementia is not a natural part of getting older, it is a progressive terminal disease and currently there is no cure.

Symptoms include memory loss, unpredictable behaviour and personality changes, and everyday tasks like dressing, eating and talking can become very difficult.  Dementia robs people of their lives, and is heartbreaking for families and loved ones.

Alzheimer’s Society can help people with dementia to lead better lives, with the right care, treatment and support. We are the leading dementia care and research charity in the UK and more people turn to us than anywhere else.

But every 5 minutes another person develops dementia – that’s 100,000 people every year. We urgently need your support to help more of these families affected by dementia today and work towards a cure for tomorrow

Samaritans

Registered charity number 219432

Sometimes it is difficult to talk to those we love. Problems such as debt, unemployment, family difficulties, homelessness and loneliness cause people to struggle every day.

Alzheimers Society

Samaritans takes the time to listen, empowering people to work through their problems.

Our volunteers answer more than 5 million contacts every year, where people feel able to talk about the problems they are unable to share with anyone else.  18,750 trained Samaritans, in 201 branches across the country, provide a service which is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to anyone who needs it.

Together with the support of The Lawyer Awards help Samaritans save lives.
